Here is a wonderful email we received about our Harvest Tours

Hi Tanaka Farms,

I thought of you this morning through the bouts of rain as that sure makes your job difficult! Also, I did want to give you some feedback from our visit to the farm for the Harvest Tour on April 1st.

We all had a GREAT time! Even though it had rained the night before, the fields were dry and it was only muddy in one small section (and all kids stayed upright). Most of the girls are 7/8. We had a couple of younger siblings, one older (10), and a good number of parents.

The vegetable selection was terrific (and tasted great), the tour was informative, and the walking was much less than expected. Throughout the entire experience people were remarking how much fun it was and we heard no complaints from anyone. In fact, my 4YO boy only acted up when it was time to leave because he really didn't want to do that at ALL!!! Also about half of the group visited the produce stand afterward to check out the goodies. Our family has cooked and consumed all of the vegetables except the beets. I will be making roasted beet chips in the next day or two to finish up our goodies.

We have been to 2 Strawberry Tours, a couple of Pumpkin Patch visits, and one fall field trip with our old school to your farm. They are all great, but I/we enjoyed doing this one the best. I think now having gone through the tour, the girls would have chosen this over the Strawberry Tour. The Harvest Tour maybe doesn't have the bells and whistles of the other tours (i.e. wagon ride, petting zoo, etc.), but in the end the kids really enjoy the hands-on aspect of the tour and it is really great to see everything up close and personal. It also gives them a better appreciation for the veggies and use of the farmland. So as a troop leader, mom, and organizer/guest of countless birthday parties, this one's a winner for young and old alike!

The one thing that my husband and I missed from the tour was the historical background of the Tanaka family & farm. I know this is usually included in the wagon tours, but we didn't have that during the Harvest Tour from our guide. The Irvine "locals", farmers' market patrons, and kids crave to hear and feel a connection to the farm/land because it IS something special and want to give it the recognition it deserves. My husband still talks about the Strawberry Tour when we had Kenny as our guide and hearing about his perspective on the farm and experiences.

Anyway, thank you for all of your coordination efforts in making this happen for our group. We really appreciate it!

Fondly,
Theresa
